About the FOOD FILM MENU

The Food Film Menu is an international competition curated by IGCAT that celebrates regional gastronomy through the lens of short films. Each year, the competition showcases outstanding audiovisual stories that highlight the cultural, environmental, and social dimensions of food, inspiring global audiences to appreciate the uniqueness of local foodways.

This competition is a call to preserve food heritage, empower creative voices, and connect people through powerful food stories.

How The Competition Works

Step 1
Submit Your Entry
Check the eligibility guidelines and complete the submission form. Filmmakers of all backgrounds — professional, amateur, and young creatives (18–35) — are welcome.

Get Evaluated by the Jury
A panel of international experts in food, culture, and film will review all submissions and select up to 14 winning films to form the official Food Film Menu.

Public Voting
All shortlisted films will also be entered into a Public’s Favourite Film vote, open online for global audiences to participate.

Gain Global Exposure
Winning films are showcased on IGCAT’s and partner platforms and well as screened at international film festivals and promoted across IGCAT’s global network.

IGCAT aims to empower local communities by raising awareness of the importance to protect and promote distinct regional food, culture, arts and natural assets as part of sustainable and balanced tourism and development strategies. This is essential to safeguard our planet, health, wellness and local economies.

IGCAT is a non-profit institute established in 2010, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide network of experts and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.

IGCAT provides the European and Food Film Menu Award and is the official secretariat for the World and European Regions of Gastronomy Platforms. Furthermore, the Institute has developed the European Young Chef Award, the World Food Gift Challenge, the Top Foodie Websites Award and the Food Film Menu.
