IGCAT has officially launched the 3rd edition of the International Food Film Menu!
A call for submissions to IGCAT’s International Food Film Menu 2023 competition is now open to collect short food films that showcase the culinary heritage of regions from across the globe.
The competition welcomes directors from around the world to share inspiring food stories from their regions by creatively depicting local food products, recipes, food producers, chefs, food traditions, food innovations, food techniques and practises, food landscapes or built heritage related to regional gastronomy.
Share Your Region’s Food Story
Film directors are invited to submit creative short films that capture the essence of their region’s gastronomy. Eligible topics include:
- Environment;
- Sustainability and food;
- Young farmers, fishermen and beekeepers;
- Food-related visitor experiences;
- Food and craft artisanal gifts;
- Young chef ambassadors;
- World and European Regions of Gastronomy nominated, candidate and/or awarded.
What’s in It for You?
A jury of IGCAT experts in the food, culture and film sectors will elect up to 10 best films, as well as award the Best Young Director. Awards will include:
- Category winners that will form the official Food Film Menu 2023;
- Best Young Director
- Public’s Favourite Film – chosen through a Facebook vote
Winning films will be screened at international film festivals around the globe.

IGCAT’s Food Film Menu contributes to internationally promote local food products, know-how, traditions and new trends related to gastronomy and crafts; encourage film directors to become ambassadors for their regions; and stimulate awareness of food and cultural diversity.

About the World/ European Region of Gastronomy Award
Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy, guided by IGCAT, are working together to strengthen food security through the celebration of distinctive food cultures; create employment by stimulating creativity and gastronomic innovation; nourish children and adults through culinary and cultural education; drive environmental sustainability in tourism, hospitality and agricultural sectors; support balance and sustainable tourism practices; highlight and support expertise from within rural and urban communities, creating connections and sharing good practises; and ultimately they contribute to community health and well-being.
